Joint Committee Tax’n Report: Taxation of Individuals and Families

The Joint Committee on Taxation has issued a report summarizing the taxation of individuals and families.

The introduction to the report is as follows:

The Tax Policy Subcommittee of the House Committee on Ways and Means has scheduled a public hearing on July 19, 2017, on the effects of tax reform on individuals and families. This document,1 prepared by the staff of the Joint Committee on Taxation (“Joint Committee staff”), includes an overview of the taxation of individuals and families, and relevant data on this topic. The appendix to this document includes reprints of selected tables previously published in the Joint Committee staff’s publication of Estimates of Federal Tax Expenditures For Fiscal Years 2016-2020.2
