Terry Philip Segal practices in the areas of white-collar crime, tax fraud and complex civil litigation.

Mr. Segal has tried over 200 civil and criminal cases. He spent over four years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Massachusetts and the District of Columbia. He has also briefed and argued over 20 cases in courts of appeal.

In Massachusetts, Mr. Segal was in charge of all tax fraud and bankruptcy fraud prosecutions for the U.S. Attorney's Office. He received a commendation from the Department of Justice for his successful six-week jury trial prosecution of a complex SBA fraud scheme.

In 1978, Mr. Segal was appointed a Special Assistant District Attorney in Norfolk County (Dedham, MA) to prosecute a former Norfolk County Assistant District Attorney for Massachusetts state tax evasion.

As a lawyer in private practice, Mr. Segal has tried numerous civil and white collar criminal cases.

In 1986, Mr. Segal was recognized by his peers for his outstanding trial skills by election to the American College of Trial Lawyers. In 1999, he was first listed in The Best Lawyers in America.

Mr. Segal has taught trial practice at Yale Law School, Boston College Law School and Suffolk University Law School, where he presently teaches. In 2008, Mr. Segal was honored by Suffolk University Law School for his contribution to teaching federal criminal procedure and trial practice.

In 2009, Mr. Segal was elected to membership in the Wong Sun Society, a select group of white-collar criminal lawyers who meet on a bi-annual basis at the ABA White Collar Crime seminar in San Francisco.

Mr. Segal is a former campaign manager for U.S. Speaker of the House of Representatives Thomas P. O'Neill, Jr., and legislative counsel to U.S. Senator Philip Hart of Michigan. In 1968, President Johnson presented Mr. Segal with a presidential pen for his work in helping secure passage of the 1968 Civil Rights Act which, among other things, prohibited discrimination in the purchase and rental of housing.

Mr. Segal is a graduate of Yale Law School and Amherst College.
