Ira S. Herman, MS, CPA, is the Trust and Estate Practice Director for J.H. Cohn. He offers specialized expertise in financial management as it relates to personal, business, retirement and estate planning. Ira has over 35 years of accounting, audit and tax experience and has conducted numerous training programs on technical tax and financial counseling subjects. He has also been an instructor in accounting and taxation at Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Ira is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants. He has served as Chairman of the Federal Tax Committee and has chaired a number of subcommittees in the federal tax and state tax disciplines.
Ira has extensive experience with business systems analysis, computer operations and closely held business consulting, as well as a focus on retirement and estate counseling. In addition, Ira is frequently called upon to lecture before business and trade associations on topics such as business entity selection, wealth accumulation, fiduciary accounting, income tax and estate tax planning. Ira is a member of the Estate Planning Council of Northern New Jersey.
Ira received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting with honors from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He holds a Master degree in Taxation from Pace University and a CEA in Personal Financial Planning from the AICPA.
