William H. Soskin

WILLIAM H. SOSKIN provides estate planning to couples and individuals with a broad range of backgrounds. He advises active and retired professionals such as dentists, lawyers, physicians, and investors.  He represents owners of small businesses such as restaurants and hotels, as well as owners of larger businesses including agribusiness, banks, and insurance agencies.  His practice includes Estate Planning, Family Business Succession Planning, and Estate Administration.

Soskin received his law degree from the University of Chicago and has been practicing law since 1969.  He is also a Cali­fornia Certified Public Accountant.  In the 1960's he worked for two major accounting firms, Arthur Andersen & Co., and Coopers & Lybrand.  He was an associate professor of accounting at the University of the Pacific, and later a professor of economics at the American College of Switzerland.  In 1970 and 1971, he was an associate in the Paris, France office of a major Los Angeles law firm.  He has also been a lecturer at the Monterey College of Law in estate planning and continues to lecture before lawyers, accountants, and other professional groups.

Soskin was elected a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel.  Martindale-Hubbell has given Soskin its highest rating ("AV") both for standards of legal ability and for faithful adherence to ethical standards, and professional reliability and diligence.  He is included in the 2006 and 2007 editions of The Best Lawyers in America, and was selected as a 2005 and 2006 Northern California Super Lawyer.  Soskin frequently speaks before lay groups as well as professionals and has published a number of articles in both professional journals and non-technical periodicals.
