David W. Reinecke
is a senior partner with Foley & Lardner LLP. Mr. Reinecke is the
chair of Foley & Lardner's nationwide Tax & Individual Planning
Practice. He is also a member of the firm's Tax & Employee Benefits
and Estates & Trusts Practices. Mr. Reinecke counsels and
represents individuals and businesses in matters relating to tax and
estate planning, business succession planning, marital property
planning, the creation and administration of trusts, and probate
administration. In addition, he represents individuals and businesses
involved in adversarial proceedings with the Internal Revenue Service.
Positions
Mr. Reinecke is the chair elect for the Board of Governors for the Madison Community Foundation. He is also the vice chair for the board of directors of St. Mary's Hospital and Care Center Foundation. Mr. Reinecke serves on numerous other boards, for both non-profit and for-profit entities.
As
adjunct professor of law at the University of Wisconsin - Madison Law
School for more than ten years, Mr. Reinecke has taught advanced
courses in drafting marital property agreements, estate planning,
estates and trusts, taxation, general practice and legal writing. He
lectures extensively all over the country and has published a book and
numerous articles on estate planning and taxation in several national
publications. One of his most recent publications is a book entitled Drafting Marital Property Agreement Provisions: Estate Planning Considerations and Related Marital Property Issues.
Professional Associations
Mr. Reinecke is the past president of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of the Wisconsin State Bar. He is a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC), where he currently serves as the state chair. He also chairs ACTEC's Wisconsin Membership Selection Committee and serves on its Estate and Gift Tax Committee. Mr. Reinecke served as the chairperson for the Wisconsin Probate Code Committee, which recently completed a rewrite of Wisconsin's Probate Code. Mr. Reinecke is a member of the Madison Estate Planning Council and the Madison Planned Charitable Giving Council. He is included in Who's Who in American Law, The Best Lawyers in America®, and was named to the 2006 list of Wisconsin Super Lawyers by Law & Politics Media, Inc. for his estate planning and probate work.
Mr. Reinecke is admitted to practice before the U.S. Tax Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and the U.S. District Court, Western District of Wisconsin.
