Carolyn Elefant, blogger at Above the Law, notes that most small business owners rarely take vacation. According to a 2013 Sage Reinvention of Business Study, 43 percent of small business owners take less vacation time than they did five years ago.

Ms. Elefant offers some tips for solos taking a vacation:

  • Celebrate Cloudy Days.
  • Keep in Contact.
  • Let the courts where you have cases pending know that you plan to take a vacation.
  • Plan for re-entry.
