After completing a formal estate plan, a person should draft a letter to his family with specific details to help them settle his estate. In this letter, a person should include the location of his estate planning documents, valuables and special assets. This letter should also provide his family with the names, addresses and telephone numbers of the attorney, executor and trustee of his estate. Finally, the letter may also include personal messages to family members and any special wishes for his funeral arrangements.
