According to the article, Senate Finance Committee member Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, objected to Whitlock and nineteen other IRS employees appearance at the conference. Grassely, who is the coauthor of the whistleblower provisions of the False Claims Act and a cosponsor of the Incorporation Transparency and Law Enforcement Assistance Act (S. 1483), complained that the IRS was dragging its feet in processing whistleblowers cases and that the IRS employee's appearances and expenses need to be justified .
