Karen Hube discusses ways for "non-rich" people to reduce estate taxes. She recommends piecemeal gifting, where every year a person can give away $13,000 to as many individuals
as they like, tax-free. Ms. Hube also discusses intra-family loans, where assets appreciate in the children's names without actually giving them up. She also states that people should consider the benefits of transferring ownership of their home to their children
now rather than waiting until after death.
