IRS Audits of High Net-Worth Individuals Causing Major Headaches For Some Taxpayers

In Tax Notes Jeremiah Coder discusses how audits by the recently formed Global High Wealth group of the IRS Large Business and International Division have been causing headaches for high net-worth taxpayers who do not have experience with a more extensive and drawn-out audit process. Yet the number of taxpayers that have been subject to this audit appears to be quite below the IRS' initial expectations.
