Tax Changes for New York Same-Sex Couples

The New York Times has published an article by Tara Siegal Bernard titled "Tax Changes for Gay Married New Yorkers." The article discusses how same-sex unions will be subject to new state tax rules regardless of whether the couples were married outside the state. 

The New York State Deptartment of Taxation and Finance has issued guidance for same-sex couples, outlining some of their rights and responsibilities. The changes went into effect on July 24.
