Wood in Will Ohio Estate Tax Repeal Trigger More?, it is important to consider state death taxes when estate planning.  Wood postulates that Ohio's repeal of its estate tax, along with reductions in other states, will lead to a trend in state-reduced estate taxes, particularly after the federal government changed the former tax credit into only a deduction for state estate taxes in 2005.
