Arden Dale at the Dow Jones Newswires has published an article titled "Estate Tax Returns to Shrink Sharply For 2011 - Tax Policy Group" in the Wall Street Journal. The Tax Policy Group stated that new regulations regarding who is required to pay estate taxes will cause total taxes owed in 2011 by about 50% compared to 2009. In 2011, the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center predicts 8,600 estates worth $125 billion filing 2011 returns. The Tax Policy Group anticipates that only 3,270 of these estates will file and owe $10 billion.  These numbers are expected to increase somewhat in 2012.
