IRS Commissioner Douglas Shulman sent Senate Finance Committee member John Thune (R-S D) a letter, responding to Senator Thune's original letter, and reinforcing the IRS's position that its recent decision to begin examining five donors to section 501(c)(4) organizations was not politically motivated.
