Roberton Williams posted an article, IRS shows how the very rich really are different, Forbes, May 12, 2011.

The 400 wealthiest Americans have earned most of their income from capital gains.  During the recession, as they earned less money from these tax-preferred gains, their effective taxation rate went up.
