In the recent article "Q. and A.: The Differences Between Philanthropy in the West and the East," New York Times Columist Sonia Kolesnikov-Jessop interviews Noor Quek, founder of NQ International, a Singapore firm providing advisory sevices to family offices in Asia and the Middle East. According to Quek, as opposed to the focus on donating to the arts, education, and health found in western countries, in Asia the emphasis is currently on poverty alleviation, although education and health are quickly gaining interest.
