Misuse of Trust Funds Results in $17 Million Judgement Against Beneficiary

Andie M. Schwartz published a new article, The Cementing of Family Bonds, Feb. 23rd, 2011.

Judge Gary R. Cassavecchia of the Hillsborough County Probate Court issued a ruling on August 18th, 2010, upholding a no contest clause that caused a trust beneficiary to owe her siblings almost $17 million. The court determined that the beneficiary used trust provisions improperly from the time when she filed suit challenging the trust.The ruling is not under appeal.
