In a recent article in the Wall Street Journal's Wealth Report, Don't Envy the Super-Rich, They Are Miserable, Robert Frank writes that the extremely wealthy tend to be a dissatisfied people with deep anxieties.

These findings are based on the results of a survey conducted by the Gates Foundation.  Frank's article includes a number of quotes from those surveyed, including: "[f]inancial freedom can produce anxiety and hesitancy. In my own life, I have been intimidated about my abilities because I inherited money."  In another quote concerning their hatred for the holidays, one respondent said the wealthy dread holidays "because they were always expected to give really good presents."
