The New York Times published the differing opinions four noted financial experts, who responded to the following questions: "What is the social value, or social cost, of having an estate tax? Can the same policy goals be achieved with other kinds of taxes?"
The experts included:
- Kevin Hassett, Senior Fellow, The American Enterprise Institute
- Roberton Williams, Senior Fellow, Tax Policy Center
- Russell Roberts, Professor of Economics, George Mason University
- Ian Shapiro, Professor of Political Science, Yale University
To read the opinions of each expert, see the "Do Estate Taxes Really Matter?" on the "Room for Debate" page of the New York Times website.
