Robert Frank published an article for the Wall Street Journal entitled, "Giving by the Rich: Altruism or Just a Tax Write-Off." The article notes a study that charitable giving by the wealthy is done for altruistic reasons. However, the study also notes that the estate tax and the ability to have charitable deductions have an impact on charitable giving.
