President Obama, in response to comments made by senior advisor David Axelrod, clarified that he did not endorse a full extension of the expiring tax cuts.  Axelrod's comments to the Huffington Post were interpreted as a willingness of the Obama administration to accept extending tax cuts for all income levels.  In clarifying Obama said "I want to make sure that taxes don't go up for middle-class families starting on January 1."
