No Fault Divorce Arrives in New York

TrackBacks (0) Comments (0)

Moses Singer LLP  has made announcement highlighting a change in New York law that makes no-fault divorce an option for residents of the state. Prior to this development, New Yorkers needed to show proof of fault to make divorce proceedings valid; this requirement often complicated matters and even enabled defendants to block divorces.  When the new laws take effect on October 14, 2010, courts will be required to grant a divorce if at least on spouse testifies under oath that the marital relationship has been broken down irretrievably for at least six months.
