Senator Finance Committee Ranking Minority Member Chuck Grassley (R-IA), in a conference call with reporters, blamed Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) for uncertainty regarding the future of the estate tax.  Senator Grassley mentioned that the Senate Finance Committee would like to consider a 35 percent top estate tax rate, $5 million exemption, and a stepped-up basis, but that its members "aren't assured by the majority leader that the bill passed out of committee would be taken up on the floor."
