NY Times: Tips to Avoid Financial Strain With Aging Parents

The New York Times, in an article titled "Tips to Avoid Financial Strain With Aging Parents," reports that an estimated 38 million Americans provide support for an elderly relative.  The article offers suggestions for children of aging parents to help cope with the costs of long-term care.  One tip offered is to examine the aging relative's finances earlier in order to plan for increased costs in the future.
