NY Times Article: "Bank Data May Unveil German Tax Evaders, Finance Official Says"

The New York Times, in Nicholas Kulish's "Bank Data May Unveil German Tax Evaders, Finance Official Says," reports that the German government has warned Germans with unreported Swiss accounts that they would face punishment if their names appeared on a CD that the government is buying from an informant.  The German government suggests that Germans with unreported Swiss accounts voluntarily declare their accounts to the German government.
