On January 27 at the 2010 Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning, presenters Lawrence Brody, Mary Ann Mancini, Charles Ratner and Randy Zipse led a panel on life insurance and the economic downturn. The session explained what types of insurance products are available, how they work, their advantages and disadvantages, and how to develop a methodology to help a client design and select an appropriate product. One of the major issues discussed included whether the insured or insurance company will expire first.
