Tax Notes has published an article by Fred Stokeld of Tax Analysts.  The article reports that witnesses addressed IRS and Treasury Officials in regards to proposed regulations governing IRS investigations on houses of worships.  The witnesses unanimously disagreed with these proposed regulations' idea that unless the IRS's exempt organization director "makes a reasonable belief determination may no longer qualify for tax-exempt status," a church audit may not take place.
