The Senate Finance Committee issued a press release announcing the Senate passed a tax package created by Chair Max Baucus (D-Mont) and ranking minority member Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) on September 23.
The tax package included clean energy tax incentives, alternative minimum tax ("AMT") relief, and extensions of expiring family and business tax cuts. The legislation combines provisions of an energy bill released by the two senators earlier this month with an agreement to update AMT rules and continue tax cuts for tuition, sales tax at the state and local level, and research and development for businesses.
